Yiwen Dong
Ph.D. Student at Stanford University
I'm Yiwen Dong, a Ph.D. student in Structures as Sensors Lab at Stanford University, advised by Professor Hae Young Noh. My current research focuses on physics-informed analysis for smart structures using floor vibrations induced by footsteps or activities.
Research Interests
My research is highly interdisciplinary and focuses on physics-guided machine learning for human-centered smart building applications using structural vibration sensing. This research field fuses concepts from Civil/Structural Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and the medical domain. Specifically, I am working on 3 main topics: 1) gait health monitoring for elderly and patients, 2) continual learning for occupant identity and activity recognition, and 3) smart pig farming.
